Seven days before the deadline for an Indonesian fantasy story competition, I'm starting to work on a story. I might be more confident of finishing it on time, if I could stop thinking that the story should be more than 2,500 words long (but no longer than 3,000). So far I only have 337 words. Fight, self.

Shumei and the White Tiger Society (working title)

"Oh, m - my apology, I didn't mean to be rude."

"Not at all. It's easier to be a leader of a society such as this when people don't tend to notice me. How was your journey?"

On arriving in Taiyuan, Shumei had gone straight to the tavern specified in Zhao Xuan's brother's letter. She gave the password to the tavern owner, who then took her to a room upstairs. Shen was seated on a chair while Zhao Guang, Zhao Xuan's brother, stood behind the chair like a watchtower. Shumei's first impression was that, apart from the wide lips, brother and sister looked nothing alike.
